STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
"Stewardship not Hoarding"
"Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instruction or not." (Exodus 16:4b)

Stewardship is about responsibility. God tested the Israelites when gathering manna, not to hoard unneeded amounts. We are also called to be content with a fair portion and be willing to share the rest with compassion.

COMBINED PARISH BBQ
The Annual Chicken BBQ held at St. Teresa of Avila is quickly approaching. It will be held on Sunday, September 13th. Please join us for a great time, and a chance for all the merging parishes to have a "get together." If anyone is interested in helping with the BBQ or wants to donate something for the Chinese Auction held that day, just call St. Teresa of Avila's rectory at 455-2323. The next planning meeting will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Rectory Meeting Room August 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Call (856) 455-2323 for more information. We need lots of volunteers! Please join us. Hope to see you there!

HYMN SING FOR UNITY!!
Save the date for the next Hymn Sing on Friday, August 21st at St. Teresa's from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Dr. Gladwyn Baptist will once again lead us in Song along with some musicians from each parish. If you missed the first Hymn Sing here is your chance to join us for a fun evening of song, inspiration, and fellowship. There will be music for all ages so families are encouraged to come. Refreshments will be served afterward in the Church basement. We are also asking for volunteers to bake or bring cakes, cookies, and brownies as before.

Please call Pat Hannum at 455-2292 to volunteer or if you have questions, or ask your Core Team members.

MERGER CORNER
The Transitional Liturgy Committee discussed ways how the music ministries from the four merging parishes could be combined at a recent meeting held at ICC. Among the ideas discussed, one suggestion was that the choirs could rotate among the four churches. The Transitional Liturgy Committee also discussed forming a "Music Council" that would plan and develop our music ministry and include the music/choir director from each of the four merging parishes. The Transitional Liturgy Committee's next meeting is August 17 at St. Teresa's. Also, our second Unity Hymn Sing will be held on August 21 at 7:00 at St. Teresa's. Our first Unity Hymn Sing was a great success. We encourage our fellow parishioners to attend on August 21 and enjoy the musical talents of the men, women and children of our merging parishes.

Welcome Father Michael Goyette from St. Teresa of Avila, Bridgeton. He is our visiting priest celebrating Mass this weekend at St. Michael's and St. Anthony's.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
"Stewardship of Sharing"
"There is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?" (John 6:9)

The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only one of our Lord's miracles which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have enough to share in Stewardship. Second, Christ can take our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just willing to let him.

F.L.A.M.E. III Sessions - Discernment and the Laity's Call to Ministry
When having to deal with major career and life events, have you ever asked yourself how do you know that you are moving in the correct direction? With such choices, where is God in all of this? Wondering how God is REALLY working in your life?

These are but a few number of interesting, challenging, and practical topics which will be addressed in our next F.L.A.M.E. series. Discernment and the Laity's Call to Ministry.
From this two-session program, attendees will be exposed not only to the real meaning of discernment, but how, if we are open to such an experience, it can dramatically and positively change our lives.

This two-part session will be held across the diocese from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the following dates and locations:

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Absecon - Aug 12; Aug 19

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
"Stewards Lack Nothing"
"The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I lack." (Psalm 23:1)
Modern advertising tempts us to want so many things. Yet a faithful Steward knows the difference between what he wants and what he needs. We can give generously when we trust that the Lord will provide for all our true needs.

MERGER CORNER
The Priest Co-Conveners and Core Team thank our fellow parishioners for their participation in the naming of the new parish. The results of balloting over two weekends at the four merging parishes have been forwarded to Bishop Galante for his review.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
"Stewardship Baggage"
"He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick - no food, no sack, no money in the belts." (Mark 6:8)
How different are we than the Apostles who took nothing when they ventured out to serve God? Today, we make our journey through stewardship more difficult if we drag along too much material baggage. The more we can let go, the freer we are to serve God with love and joy.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVES By Bud Ozar
Jesus sent out His apostles without a lot of "things." Today's gospel challenges us to look at the "things" crowding our lives; we collect, possess, argue over, and worry about "things." Often we are so busy doing "things" we don't have time for the people closest to us. Are "things" separating you from your family?

MARRIAGE MOMENTS
What's the most important factor in choosing a spouse? Not even Solomon should attempt to answer this, but consider the following three ingredients: Physical attraction + shared values + full commitment = a good chance to make a marriage work.

PARENTING POINTERS
Do summer days with kids wear you out? Even if your children are past the napping stage, consider an "after lunch quiet hour." Kids don't have to sleep, just spend some time reading, drawing, or daydreaming. Having moments of quiet during the day give God space to enter our lives.

SILENT RETREAT
A Woman's Silent Retreat sponsored by The Mother of Divine Mercy Center of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and spiritually directed by Father Ariel Hernandez will be held on July 17-19 at Pope John Paul II Retreat Center in Vineland, NJ. All are invited to the peace and quiet that the presence of God provides, and to awaken a new life filled with faith, where you will come away and experience the companionship and comfort of the One who says, "Be still and know that I am God."

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
"On our Feet Stewardship"
"As he spoke to me, spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I hear the one who was speaking say to me: Son of man, I am sending you . . . " (Ezekiel 2:2 and 3a)
God sends each of us to do some special work for Him. He gives us all the talents that we need to do that work. However, do we listen to God when he calls? Do we get up on our feet and give our time to do the work of our calling? This is the basis for good Stewardship.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVES By Bud Ozar
Today's gospel is so familiar it hurts! The home town folks couldn't accept the presence of God in Jesus. After all, they had seen him grow up. We can easily make the same mistake if we don't see God present in the ordinary routines of family life. "The Lord be with you" is a statement of fact. Believe it. Live it.

MARRIAGE MOMENTS
"[Love] is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury." (Corinthians 13:5)
Sure, you might be right. Yes, you might be justified in feeling offended. Nursing that grudge, however, will not heal your relationship. Get some distance then let go of the negative feelings.
